TIPS

If you get a call from Microsoft, or ANYONE ELSE, telling you that your computer is infected or hacked, IT IS A TRICK. The same if you get a call from your bank. Tell the caller you know it’s a scam, and replace the receiver. If possible, block the number. Do not hang up and dial a number the caller has given you, as they will still be on the line.

Don’t be afraid to upgrade to Windows 11. It’s not that different from 10 and is an excellent operating system.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In Windows 10, try the new browser Edge for surfing the internet. It is quick and simple to use. Go through the settings to set it up to suit you.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you use a Microsoft email account you can no longer access it using Windows Live Mail. Windows 10 includes a Mail app which is rather basic but easy to use. A good substitute for Windows Live Mail is eM Client:- (eM Client download). This supports all email accounts.

In Windows it’s easy to find anything. Just click the Windows icon at the bottom left of your screen and start to write. A list of files and folders with this word in the name will appear. Right click and choose  “Open folder location” to see where the file is located. In Windows 10 click “Type here to search,” next to the Windows icon.

If you change ISP you won’t be able go on using the email they gave you, so it may be better to create a gmail, livemail or yahoomail account which can be used with any ISP. You can set up Outlook, Thunderbird, eM Client or Windows Mail to work with these. In gmail, click on the gearbox – settings –  Pop and Imap forwarding – and enable IMAP.
